is it possible to meet Mary Anne Warren's criteria of personhood in less complicated forms of simulated life?
(sentience, emotionality, reason, communication, self-awareness, moral agency)
(vision, proprioception, hearing, pain, pleasure/instinct, motivation/burnout, social emotional communication/reception (recognizing other's pain or priority), trust metrics, fluctuating/forgiving emotions, new problems, complex problems, memory, high-level learning or instruction transference, self-state, social state, moral ideas (perma-emotional biases or new instincts/motivations built out of your experiences)

The problem is that the far right parties such as the PVV (the largest in the Dutch parliament) and the farmers party BBB – currently trying to form a government – lack the intellectual calibre among their membership and electoral supporters to see the larger picture and to be able to even come close to taking the right decisions.

tomorrow i will meet two very cute cuties

This is precisely the crap that comes from the latest disgusting nativist politics in the #NL. Curtesy of Wilders, et al. one of the most important companies on the planet, and one of the largest European companies (in market value) is seriously considering to move elsewhere as NL moves to make itself an unattractive place to work in.

you have a P2P swarm of torrent-like peers.
they're not all online at the same time.
how do you coordinate a schedule between peers,
such that it isn't abused by other parties to DOS the seed / so that superseeders are coordinated?
kinda like the cicada cycles?
best I can figure is leaving a message at a mutual friend, encrypted saying "change of plans, my node will be online at UTC xyz", if they don't meet up at the other date.

Meet the neo-luddites warning of an AI apocalypse
Eliezer Yudkowsky, a 44-year-old academic wearing a grey polo shirt, rocks slowly on his office chair and explains with real patience – taking things slowly for a novice like me – that every single person we know and love will soon be dead.
They will be murdered by rebellious self-aware machines.
“The difficulty is, people do not realise,” Yudkows…

Meet the people who keep the Internet going:
"subsea cables are also part—a foundational part—of the tech industry… You’re dealing with the most hostile environment on the planet, eight kilometers deep in the oceans, working with some pretty high technology, traveling all over the world. You’re on the forefront of geopolitics, and it’s critical for the whole way the world operates now.”

meeting people in person again has been nice.
I've been super isolationist and I'm glad that in this new town I can finally meet folks... after a year of not doing so.
like the mental hit of no in-person queer events :/
